1950's Slingerland 5.5 x14 Solid Shell Snare Drum

Single ply solid maple shell 

Dog Tag Badge dates this beauty between 1953-1956

Overall this drum is in very good condition. The shell is structurally sound, free of extra holes, and in good working order.

The original silver sparkle wrap is clean and in very good shape. It has aged to a classic ginger gold. Wrap is holding well at the seams and free of cracks. Finish shows even fading and aging around the drum.

Chrome hardware is clean and in very good working order. Drum features chrome over brass hoops, and a clean & smooth 3 point strainer. The removable extended arm on the throw off was modified and rolled over from back to front so that it does not stick out about the rim. It adjust easily, and stays engaged while playing. Chrome is clean with some standard signs of use and are Surface scuffs and minimal pitting on some of the lugs. About half of the tension rods are not original.

Bearing edges are even with some standard Slingerland re-ring separation. Each side shows some wood glue & fillers. The shell takes modern Remo heads.
